School trips
TRIPS & EXCURSIONS
Educational value
Trips are an integral part of the curriculum and form a central part of the extra-curricular life of the school. They are designed to build on topics covered in lessons, and to provide the boys with an opportunity of thinking about their discoveries in a real-world environment. At their best, they provide context that cannot be achieved through books, talks, or films.
Fun life experiences
Trips out of school are formative experiences and important to education in the round. They are deigned by their very nature to be fun and memorable, and cover a wide range of types and styles from a trip to a local museum to handle artefacts studied in history or science lessons to a team-building day out at a sailing centre or assault course.
Residential trips and trips abroad
Once per year the school organises a foreign trip for boys in Years 6 to 8. An annual skiing trip to the French or Italian Alps is always popular, and every five years the school travels to Rome.

In 2023, the boys toured Rome, Pompeii, and Herculaneum in Southern Italy.
