Performing arts

Performance
opportunities for all
Performing arts a fundamental part of the high-quality all-round education at St Philip's, and are a significant contributor to the rich history of the school. Some of our boys' most cherished memories will stem from roles they took in school productions either as a starring cast leader or as a member of a rip-roaring chorus.
We have wonderful visiting acting coaches who visit the school twice weekly to prepare boys for the LAMDA scheme - the boys always pass with flying colours - and it is entirely normal to hear signs of organised chaos in the Big School Room as acting clubs meet at the end of the school day.

The centre-piece of the year is the annual drama production, which is usually - but not always - a musical that takes place in the Lent Term.

In recent years the boys have come together to create fabulous family events that include:

-
The Lion King in 2018
-
Aladdin in 2019
-
A Midsummer Night's Dream in 2020
-
Joseph in 2022
-
Smike in 2023
